Next up in the Stalking Jack the Ripper blog series, Escaping from Houdini! Thanks to Hachette Book Group Canada for sending me an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review.
Here is where you’ll find a Goodreads synopsis and then we’ll dive right in!
This book was captivating, murders taking place on a lavish cruise liner is quite mysterious. I liked the overall ambiance that Kerri Maniscalco created with her setting, describing it as a prison where people are trapped while a murderer runs rampant. It also created the interesting dilemma of what will happen when the killer is caught? because they were on international waters throughout the story.
Our characters that I know and love, Audrey Rose and Thomas were not what I anticipated. Instead of the witty couple tackling murder mysteries, there was an introduction of a new character, dragging with him the ridiculous and ever-dreaded love triangle trope. Keep reading!
Hi bookworms! Here’s the next post in my Stalking Jack the Ripper series, Hunting Prince Dracula.
The Goodreads synopsis can be found here.
Let’s hop into it! So for starters, this book was much better than the first. I preferred Audrey Rose in this installment because she was a stronger, more independent individual than in the first book. She knew what she wanted and didn’t let herself be pushed around. The way she was supported by Thomas was also wonderful. He respected her as an individual and didn’t disregard her for simply being a woman. Thomas did make mistakes and so did Audrey Rose, creating a more realistic portrayal. Keep reading!
